The Role Of Education In National Development

Education is all-round development of an individual. It occurs in many different forms and environments. The purpose is to develop individuals to be responsible citizens who will contribute to the national economy.

Education is a basic human right; when that right is granted, there is growth and development, and society is more likely to improve in areas such as health, nutrition, general income, living standard, and population and fertility rates. As a process of change, the outcome of education is the development of individuals and this in turn results in the development of a nation. Education is, not doubt, the source of human resources such as teachers, engineers, doctors, and so on. These professionals work in different sectors of the economy to develop the nation. Education provides greater access to technology, which is the yardstick for national development.

For example, developed countries, such as the United Kingdom, the United State of America, and Germany, possess a high level of technological advancement which is engineered by their cream of professionals. In addition, educated men like Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and President Barak Obama among many have promoted better life not only for themselves but also their country and the whole world. Education makes people literate by strengthening their skills to progress in sustaining the development of a nation in terms of governance, societal norms, industry, as well as gender equality. Education is the foundation for the success of any given society. In conclusion, a more educated population will result in higher personal incomes and expand access to financial opportunities which would prompt national development, better life and societal unity.
